Sending parcels internationally

thePost also sends parcels to destinations with a registered postal service under the bnbPU. You can choose to send these with either regular or express post.

Preparing your shipment

Before you send your parcel, to save time, you should organise your shipment to ensure that it is ready to be sent internationally:

  • Package your shipment in a Shulker Box.
  • Add a book specifying the full address for the destination. If you wish for the shipment to be returned in the event that it cannot be delivered, also add your return address in this book, below the destination address.

Our staff at the post office are happy to help if you have any questions.

When you lodge your parcel

When you visit a post office and lodge your parcel for shipment, you will be required to fill a Declarations book. This is required by the bnb Postal Union for sending to all destinations. To make the process faster, come prepared with the information you will need to fill out:

  • An itemised list of the contents of the consignment.
  • If sending dangerous goods, a list denoting the nature and quantity of dangerous goods being shipped.

Tracking

Tracking is offered2 for international parcels. Enquire at the counter when you lodge your parcel for shipment.

Customs requirements

Every country (including TAY) has restrictions on what can be sent through the mail. When sending parcels internationally, as well as being aware of the restrictions set by TAY Customs, it is also important to be aware of these restrictions for the country that you are sending to.

If you send a shipment that violates the restrictions set by the destination country, your mail may be destroyed. For more severe offences, you may even be prosecuted.
